Facilities for Learning
Our school was part refurbished and rebuilt in 2009 under the Building Schools for the Future Programme and the new buildings opened in January 2010. The school is a 6 Forms of Entry (FE) school, with a substantial amount of beautiful outside green space surrounding our fully accessible buildings. The Our Grade II listed central building and our modern wings have been tastefully integrated into a facility that meets the needs of all our learners.
The school has specialist laboratories for Science and Art, Design & Technology teaching, as well as excellent facilities for music, drama, dance and PE which make use of traditional indoor spaces such as studios, gyms and practice rooms coupled with our exciting Multi Use Games Areas (MUGA) and our 90+ year old Greek Amphitheatre.
The school has two large halls; one is a traditional Grade II listed hall featuring our honours boards and the other a modern day lecture theatre hall with retractable banked seating. Both are used extensively for assemblies, large events and showpiece school performances. Our dining space is extensive and accommodates approximately 180 girls in one sitting. Our Learning Resource Centre (LRC) allows for quiet study and reading time. The ICT facilities are excellent, with full wireless coverage across the site and over 800 computers available for staff and students to make use of, including i-Pads, which individual faculties can make use of to support e-learning within lessons.
We have extensive ICT provision with five ICT suites, high speed Wifi access in all parts of the school and classrooms fitted with data projectors and interactive whiteboards.
Our buildings and grounds are maintained to the highest standard. This helps to provide a safe and stimulating environment for young people to learn and enjoy their school experience and helps to reflect our cultural richness and diversity.
Our Allotment, Greek Amphitheatre, Student Lounge and pond area help to make our site unique and allow students to relax and socialise with their peers and support the development of their mental and physical well-being.
