Debate Competition
This week, the debate team took on TWO competitions.
On Tuesday, 12th November, a group of 15 KS3 and KS4 debate club members travelled to South Hampsted High School for their Autumn Debate event. The theme this year was SexEd and the students took on motions about masculinity, consent, and even AI-generated compatibility! For many of our KS3 students, this was their very first competition and they definitely held their own. One year 7 team even won their heat! Overall, approximately 18 private, grammar, and state schools took part over the course of three rounds and three hours of debate.
Well done!

On Wednesday, 13th November, our KS4 team –
Serena H (11), Hibba R (10) and Huda A (10)
- participated in the English Speaking Union national debate competition. Again this year, the event was held over Zoom as an evening of online debate. The students provided stiff competition to the sixth-form opponents and were very impressive in their quick thinking and well-formulated arguments. While we didn’t advance this year, we proved what a strong team we are and will continue to be.
