LRC Lunchtime Lecture Series

This term has seen the launch of our ‘LRC Lunchtime Lecture’ series – a fortnightly opportunity for students to share their knowledge and passion on a topic of their choice with their peers.

Imogen and Mina (Year 8) kicked things off with their wonderful lecture on ‘Graphic Novels’, exploring their history and reflecting on what makes them so appealing to readers. Imogen and Mina prepared a fun follow-up activity for all attendees, who had the chance to create their own graphic novel and really enjoyed the chance to get a bit inventive.

Charli (Year 11) followed up with a fascinating deep-dive into the world of ‘Mary Morstan’ and her role as a neutral force within the Holmes & Watson literary universe. Charli’s very well researched lecture led to a thoughtful Q&A session which sparked some fascinating discussions on authorial intention and gender dynamics.

Imogen, Mina and Charli created their own promotional posters to advertise the event, and showed great confidence at delivering their lectures and responding to questions. Both events were very well attended, with the LRC completely at capacity! A very big thank you indeed to all three students for helping to set the bar so high for the remainder of this academic year.
