Art trip to the Tate Modern Art Gallery

Written by Year 11 student - Dolly Lisle-Taylor

On 09/01/2023 the year 11s went on an art trip to the Tate Modern Art Gallery to explore ideas for our new project ‘Lock’ that will be start in February.

It was a very fun and enjoyable experience,  and we collected a lot of inspiration from it. The journey there and back had no fuss and was very organised and easy. Similarly to some other students, my favourite piece was Cildo Meireles’ ‘Babel’ which was a large sculptural installation of second-hand analogue radios stacked in circular layers. There was blue toned LED lighting and music in the room which miss Wills described as “teenage white noise”(which was extremely accurate as we all loved it).

There were also many more works of art like Lala Rukh clothed/unclothed which is a socio-political art about an activist organisation called QUEER NATION, an LGBTQIA activist organisation .

It was an amazing trip and I hope other years get to have the same experience.
