Iris Magazines 1906-1970
Our ‘Iris’ school magazine is now available for you to view here. Former pupils started the magazine in 1906, as a way of sharing information and providing an insight into the world of work for pupils attending the school.
This is a valuable resource giving an insight into the lives of women and is also highly informative about relevant issues during important periods of our school history, not only locally but internationally.
You will also find some very amusing articles, so please have a look and explore our wonderful history.
Today, we have the ‘Greensheet,’ which celebrates achievements and shares news about the school.
Below is an extract from the first edition of the Iris in 1906, announcing the formation of the association and magazine.

Walthamstow High School Old Girls’ Association
At a reunion of former pupils, held at the Walthamstow High School on Friday it was decided to form an "Old Girls' Association." The object of the Society is to keep a common interest between Girls who are leaving School; to arrange for two meetings a year, when old associations may be renewed and to publish a magazine to tell of what is being done by past and present W.H.S. Girls, and contributions from members.
